Richard Nesly

(1979 - )

Born in Port-au-Prince, but raised in Petit Trou de Nippes, Richard Nesly is the son of the great Richard Antihomme. He began to paint at the age of 18, and represents the next generation of the Saint Soleil school of painters.

"Nesly has a unique style of painting, involving languid figures, the natural world, and animals. When visiting with him at his house, with a perfectly set table for tea in the front room, his simple but direct personality shined. He is a tranquil presence, and paints harmonious, flowing versions of the lwa (spirits), fantastical animals and the natural world, often using bold colors with striking black lines." G.P.
