OLUWASEYI ABU grew up in ondo State, Nigeria, and is a self taught, young contemporary Nigeria artist exploring acrylic and Archival pigment ink on canvas.
Oluwaseyi often paints monochromatic or color - blocked figures set against plain backgrounds, drawing inspiration from his personal life,home, family and everyday life experience.
Oluwaseyi worked as an Art facilitator in Brambles network. Always willing to push creative boundaries, he experiments using an interdisciplinary approach to his art, working traditional painter, art facilitator, and muralist.
He has taken part in many group shows in Nigeria and internationally, he has regularly taught workshops and seminars on diverse topics including wall of Hope, it starts with you’, amongst many others. oluwaseyi also volunteers as the Chief Art facilitator of Bramble network, programs for children living in rural and marginalized community, a non-governmental organization committed to rural education.
Oluwaseyi created the metaphorsis of Dream, a large mural project at the bramble learning space Compound in Arikanki, where he painted a stunning yellow butterfly as symbolics the stages and process of dream actualization.
Oluwaseyi lives presently in Ondo town,Ondo state, Nigeria, where he maintains his studio.
His systematic way of telling this healing story is with depth and beauty, promoting and embracing the inner strength of African women,using figure portrait as tool to show that strength and power above sorrow.
