ONEL (Lionel Paul)

Lionel Paul is a working artist under the name of ONEL. He was born in 1966 in Soissons La Montagne, and is one of the younger generation of the Saint Soleil movement. He was influenced by his aunt, a seamstress, and deviated from the traditional figurative work by experimenting with collage, including fabric, found objects, wallpaper and other items.

"When visiting ONEL in his studio, with his family taking tea downstairs, a sense of peace came over me. He is a calm presence, with a serene smile and affect. His imaginative, swirling pieces of “bricolage” are fantastical and tranquil at the same time. His shy smile is a pleasure to receive." G.P.
