(1980 - 2020)
Born in Thomassin, Haiti, he began painting and drawing at age 13, encouraged by his mother. His inspiration came from everyday life (he once described a tap-tap accident, with passengers falling all over each other, as the beginning of a new piece), but also from a free, fertile and active imagination. His artistic vision has been described as “a spectral vision of a tormented world” (Anthony Fisher, Indigo Arts Gallery). His particular brand of chiaroscuro, combined with his vivid and sometimes disturbing imagination, renders his compositions both compelling and frightful.
He passed away from a bizarre fall down the stairs at his home in 2020.
